The idea of R2D2 or Johnny5 resonated in my childhood and left me craving like many for conscious technology. Turing’s test is seen as setting the bar for when we will actually find general AI, and there is a debate that his test was passed in 2014 by Eugene Goostman. It is also debated whether it’s the right test for AGI.
